I wanted to write a quick Roku XD review because I believe this device is the next step for streaming TV, movies, and social media. Many people have Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Video, and even Pandora. The challenges we movie lovers face are these services are available on the computer or you have to purchase an expensive internet TV, or gaming console.
The information covered in this Roku XD review will show you that you have a viable low cost home media solution that you can enjoy from the comfort of your living room couch.

I unboxed my Roku XD and found that it was easily connected to my living room TV. I told it to search for my wireless home network and after typing in my password I was in business. I quickly registered it on Roku’s site, selected my screen size, and 1080p resolution. I was impressed that it was smaller than my first generation Roku and the picture quality was unparalleled. The beauty of the Roku 2 XD was I only paid $80, much less than Apple TV or Google TV!
Roku XD Review:
The Roku XD has over 350 channels and apps to pick from. Some of the apps I enjoy besides the ones listed above are the weather apps, the sports channels, Youtube, and Crackle’s free movie channels. Like Hulu they play some commercials but nothing like the 4-6 minutes cable or satellite commercials.
I was surprised how clear the image was being streamed from my wireless network.
Roku XD Review: The Cons
This wouldn’t be a complete Roku XD review unless I covered a few cons. You definitely need a fast internet connection otherwise the picture quality goes down. It’s still an amazing picture quality but to take advantage of the full 1080p you want a quick internet connection. You also have to provide your own HDMI cable but I already had one for my TV so that wasn’t a big deal.
